Described are the basic building blocks of digital circuits and how they are used in integrated circuits for automotive applications. Shift registers, binary counters and memories are formulated from arrangements of gates, inverters, flip-flops, etc. Potential applications include: seat-belt/ignition interlock systems (now in use), pollution control and monitoring devices and antiskid circuits.
