A major characteristic of any communication network is its access arrangement. In the integrated services digital network ISDN we distinguish between basic access and primary rate access. The first type is intended for the connection of individual ISDN users or small PBXs, while the second is for the connection oif large multiline PBXs. The subject of this article is the ISDN basic access.
