Investing POUND 200,000 in a Lorenz CNC gear shaper to machine just one type of component has enabled transmission parts subcontractor W. A. Tyzack of Sheffield to lift output rates by 460 percent. Cutter life has also been improved, in one case up to six times. And, most importantly, the company can now achieve the high level of statistical process control demanded by a customer list that includes multinationals which are having to respond to Japanese levels of quality.
