A310 MAKES ITS DEBUT.

The A310, the latest member of the Airbus family, combines all the latest proven technology and sets new technological accents. The manufacturers, Airbus Industrie, intend that the entire Airbus family shall benefit from the innovations as ″technical improvements″ . They include, first and foremost: a transonic wing with a new airfoil and bigger aspect ratio; an advanced cockpit design using up-to-date push button and visual display technology and digital data processing; an integrated flight control and flight management system; extensive use of modern lighter composite materials in the secondary structures; a still more comfortable cabin with more stowage room for baggage and individual reading lamps; General Electric engines (CF 6-80A3s - basic A300 CF 6-50Cs) with six per cent better fuel consumption; and further reduced noise and fume levels.
