An improved central regulator was developed, based on a tworegulator scheme (TRS), consisting of two identical power regulators of the group active power regulation (GAPR) system-main and reserve-united by a common scheme. The design made it possible to accomplish mutual automatic check of their operation and protection and prompt testing of the system to provide constant readiness of the components of the reserve regulator for operations as part of the main regulator without conducting preliminary inspection and testing. The TRS system is shown. The static and dynamic characteristics of the reserve regulator and model of the object were adjusted during testing of the GAPR system in a power-setting regime. The operating experience confirmed the expediency of using both the TRS system and the modernized components of the standard central regulator.
