By utilizing the recent remarkable progress in electronics, demand to facilitate the development of new mechanism is increasing. To develop such new, so-called integrated mechanisms with higher functions, a new systematic synthesis method has to be established. Based on this background, study was made on the modification of member synthesis as the first step to establish a new systematic synthesis method of mechanism. Change in the classification of mechanisms and restriction in the number of direct pair between two links to one were made as the major modifications in the fundamental equation. Furthermore, computer aided number synthesis was developed for application to the complex member synthesis with many links. As a result, new member synthesis on the complex mechanism became possible.
