摘要
The IP-based base station system (IP BSS) is designed to support both GSM BSS and TDMA-EDGE (EGPRS-136) radio access networks. It provides a future-proof path to the GSM EDGE radio access network (GERAN), since it has been optimized to handle a mix of data (GPRS and EDGE) and real-time services, such as voice traffic. The authors describe the architecture of the IP BSS, the main functionality of the network elements, and the salient features of this new radio access solution.
