Factories, warehouses, docks, and railroad terminals use powered industrial trucks to carry, push, pull, lift, stack, and tier material. Each of the many types of trucks used in these operations requires guarding for the operator's protection, as well as for the safety of other workers. Equally important is the establishment of safe practices for the operation, maintenance, and inspection of powered industrial trucks. The article discusses rules of the road for operating industrial plant vehicles. Supplementing such rules are devices that warn visibly and audibly of approaching traffic. Operators must be familiar with both factors to perform safely.
