摘要
In the article various knowledge management issues are presented. Roots of the concept are briefly outlined and its definitions are quoted. The article provides three main trends in development of knowledge management concept. First is Japanese model, which was initiated by knowledge spiral of Nonaka and Takeuchi, later it developed in system approach. The second one is based on resource approach, its main assumption is that only knowledge embodied in so-called core competences or skills can ensure lasting competitive advantage. Third trend-process approach - arose from practical experiences of consulting firms. In the article an importance of research and development institutes in creating companies' knowledge was discussed. Issues of international transfer of scientific achievements are presented, especially an importance of science and technique transfer for economic growth and Poland's participation in international knowledge transfer. The article is closed by discussion of main effects of putting knowledge management system into practice.
