Data acquisition and recording for dynamic process

Signal processing incorporates amplification, attenuation, linearisation and conversion. These must be applied to the incoming signals whether they be voltage, current, frequency (e.g. of rotation), temperature or torque, so that the result is a signal which is compatible with the eventual storage and recording system. The term pre-amplifier denotes the sub-system which carries out these signal-processing functions, even though, amplification is only one of the functions. A fully programmable pre-amplifier also allows matching processes to be controlled such as zero balancing of a bridge amplifier and transducer connection. Data capture and storage is discussed.
