With economic growth slowing down, the US paper and board industry had a tough time of it during the past 12 months. Output is down, imports are up, and about the only plus point is that the drop in production stems largely from deliberate attempts to keep supply in line with demand. On the other hand, a weak Canadian dollar helped its northern neighbour to a better performance.
