摘要
Shore-based traffic control systems provide information for the ship's staff which formerly could be presented aboard only by the personal appearance of a pilot. These systems offer advantages over traditional pilot-services, among them being better availability, and advantages in the field of collision avoidance. To provide a trustful cooperation between ship and shore each side should know what information is available and what is needed on the other side. To learn and to speak one language is the first step to this cooperation. The ″Standard Marine Navigational Vocabulary″ as proposed by IMCO leads towards this direction.
