摘要：
This, the second part of our article on the application of high power lasers for shipbuilding, deals with laser welding. The author discusses the principle of laser butt welding using an intercepting filler wire and describes weld trials using industrial CO//2 lasers. Reference is made to the author's laser formula for estimating weld shrinkage. Finally, potential applications for laser welding in shipbuilding are discussed and a case study for panel production is described.
