The method by Alippi and Palmieri (1968) for the investigation of light diffraction by ultrasonic standing wave was simplified by using the well- known Fresnel dual- beam holography scheme to record the hologram, instead of recording it in the interference plane of the reference beam with the actual standing- wave image in the diffraction zone. Characteristics of holograms obtained by applying this simplified technique in the diffraction of laser radiation by a standing wave are described and discussed.
