Cleaning steam generators in power and process plants

Heat- transfer equipment should be cleaned on a regular basis to maintain efficiency and reduce the probability of a forced outage. Selecting the right cleaning process requires considerable thought. Primary objective is to choose a solvent system that will remove the various deposits present. Mill scales and other deposits in new equipment and operational deposits in steam- generating and process equipment are all different. The effectiveness of a system in minimizing base- metal corrosion and health hazards must be considered. Selection of the best method for disposing of the spent solvent/deposit mixture should be determined.
