An outline is given of the optimum methods for maintenance of coke ovens for minimal down time. Suggestions are given for appropriate selection of repair of the worn spots in ovens. The advantages offered by a mixture of aluminum sulfate, water glass, clay, aluminous cement and phosphates are evaluated.
