摘要
One of the principal tasks in radiation physics of solids is the search for materials unaffected by ionizing radiations. Crystals exhibit radiation stability when elementary radiation defects (Frenkel pairs) become annihilated at the moment of creation by a nondiffusion mechanism at any temperature no matter how low. The necessary condition for radiation stability is that the size of an instability zone along a given direction should be greater than the range of a dynamic crowdion. Computer calculations of focusing are reported and simple structural methods are proposed for estimating the mean free path of crowdions in loosely packed structures. A reportt is given of an experimental test of the criterion by diffuse reflection and infrared spectroscopy methods. 22 refs.
