Depending on a fuel's chemical and physical properties, various steps can be taken to minimize the chances of high-temperature corrosion of hot-section parts, ash deposition in the gas path, and fuel-system fouling. The problem is examined from the viewpoints of fuel selection, handling, chemical and physical properties, and treatment equipment and systems (including centrifugal and electrostatic washing).
