INVESTIGATION OF PbTe-BASED SOLID SOLUTIONS UNDER HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE.

Thermoelectric power and the Hall effect of some PbTe-based solid solutions were investigated under hydrostatic pressure. The Kane dispersion law approximation was used to obtain comparative estimates of the pressure coefficients H D-BAR m//d***/dP and H D-BAR E//g/dP at T equals 300 K. The results obtained indicated that these coefficients were independent of the solid-solution composition. A combined analysis of the temperature and pressure dependences of m//d*** and E//g established that the thermal expansion contribution was practically the same for all the compositions and the main cause of the changes in the temperature dependences of m//d*** and E//g was the change in the contribution of the thermal lattice vibrations. The latter factor (manifested by weakening of the temperature dependences of m//d*** and E//g at constant volume) was manifested particularly clearly by Pb//0//. //9//5Cd//0//. //0//5Te.
