In this article the author examines whether or not terotechnology, with its emphasis on reliability, can help to reduce maintenance costs which at present account for up to 25% of total operating costs. Terotechnology is defined as the technology of installation, commissioning, maintenance, replacement and removal of plant, machinery and equipment, with feedback to operation and design.
