摘要：
The use of water in coal mining operations is considered together with the three critical aspects for its effective use, namely quantity, pressure and method of application. The author discusses the use of higher than normal water pressures and details the anticipated benefits in terms of enhanced environment, improvements in machine performance and reduced costs. Methods of water pressure generation are described and application on roadway development and coalface machines are detailed together with the results obtained.
