摘要：

A survey of over 70 companies who between them use over 17,000 flowmeters has been carried out. It was concerned with the number of flowmeters of each different type in use, the fluids being measured, line sizes employed and the purpose and history of meter usage. The survey examined the opinions of users regarding both characteristics of the different types of meter and the selection of meters for different purposes as well as obtaining an insight into future usage patterns. It also obtained information about the installation of meters (lengths of straight pipe upstream of meters) and calibration procedures.
