INTRODUCTION OF SUBLANCE SYSTEM AT NO. 3 B. O. F. SHOP IN WAKAYAMA STEEL WORKS.

A process computer system (HIDIC-350) was introduced for setting end-point carbon and temperature controls by sublance at No. 4 B. O. F. in December 1974. The authors developed the automatic probe supplying and withdrawing device in order to measure carbon and temperature at the end of blowing by sublance as rapidly as possible. They also developed a complex probe consisting of temperature, carbon and active oxygen sensors, in order to obtain the sample simultaneously by the probe. Further, graphic and character CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) for man-machine communication was adopted. Operators can foresee the blowing condition in furnace through the CRT graphic curve.
