摘要
A dynamic analysis of the rotors of a homopolar machine for kinetic energy storage is presented. The machine is a drum-type one and it is designed with two counter-rotating rotors supported by pneumostatic bearings. Numerical analysis has been performed both for startup and deceleration phases, as well as the presence of great electrical loads, using residual measured unbalances. The different influences of the gyroscopic effects on the rotors as well as the importance of the bearing system flexibility have been outlined. Finally, the effect of the failure of a bearing support is investigated for diagnostic purposes.
