Resonances above 14 MeV in alpha-particle scattering from silicon

A total of 43 resonances was observed by bombarding 28Si with 14.3 - 15.4 MeV alpha particles. Of these 26 were observed in both the elastic and inelastic channels. A dominant angular momentum of L = 8 was assigned to most of the resonances based on the analysis of differential cross-sections measured in five keV steps at nine backward angles between 150 and 173 degrees. Auto-correlation of the elastic excitation function yields a mean resonance width of 20 keV.
