This article describes the use of elastomeric and thermoplastic materials in the manufacture of electric cables. Major thermoplastic and thermosetting insulating materials used in cables are: Thermoplastic materials: a) Polyvinylchloride, b) polyethylene; and Thermoset materials: a) Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE), b) Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR).
