METHOD OF PRODUCING A DUMMY HEAD FOR HEAD-RELATED STEREOPHONIC RECORDING TECHNIQUES.

The free-field transfer functions of a dummy head (three different exchangeable ″eardrum″ impedances: very high and very low acoustic impedance and eardrum approximation) and those of six male persons are measured with four different sound incidence directions (front, back, right and left). The results show that the free-field transfer functions of the dummy head depend strongly on its ″eardrum″ impedance. The smallest differences between the transfer functions of the dummy head and those of a natural head are observed in case of human eardrum approximation at the dummy's ear-canal.
