Wire bending. Advances in technology

From the beginning of the industrial revolution, designers and builders of wire production machines were in the forefront of technological advances. The Morewood and Rogers devices, together with patents from various other engineers in the 19th Century, including the Midgley and Nye wire coating machine of 1890, provide good testimony of this. These various machine builders had one particular feature in common, they were specialists in the construction of wire production machines and that, largely, was the extent of their knowledge.
