The influence of the complexity of crystallization of metallic glasses on the determination of kinetic parameters of the process by classical methods is investigated. The importance of a non-Arrhenian temperature dependence of crystal growth rate and sample size or chemical inhomogeneity effects is discussed. The peculiarities observed during crystallization of metallic glasses are attributed to the inherent complexity of the structure of these materials which complicates the use of the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Jerofeev-Kolmogorov relation in its simple form to evaluate this process.
