摘要
One aspect of the accelerator mass spectrometry technique is that samples can be dated which are essentially smaller than required for conventional **1**4C dating. These two orders of magnitude expansion offer applications of **1**4C which are new, and in some fields, of great importance. This paper attempts to list and group the various types of sample materials, with special emphasis on their role in archaeology and geology.
