摘要
The operation of the Fisher Scientific Co. sulfur analyzer system is described. The system incorporates molybdenum disilicide heating elements in the decomposition furnace. The combustion tube is filled with pure oxygen, to convert the sulfur in the sample to SO//2. From the furnace, the gas is bubbled through a diluent liquid. Platinum electrodes in the diluent are present for a specific electric current; but as the diluent absorbs SO//2 its electrical conductivity decreases - in direct proportion to the amount of SO//2 absorbed. Decreased current automatically triggers a burette to release the precise amount of titrant needed to restore the current to its present level. A microprocessor ″reads″ the amount of titrant released by the burette and converts it to %S (or ppm S).
