Influence of μ-phase on properties of heat resistant wrought nickel alloy type KhN60KVYuMB

A study was made into the structure and properties (impact strength, long-term rupture strength, fatigue limit, tensile properties) of pressed rods of high alloy type KhN60KVYuMB (EP-957). The alloy is intended for long-term operation at high temperatures (700-800°C), for turbine blades, in particular. It is shown that long-term isothermal aging induces precipitation of needle-like μ-phase in grain bodies. Mechanical test results revealed no detrimental effect of this phase on alloy properties.
