Limiting Deformation in the Mannesmann Rolling Process with Regard to Quality of Hollow Rolled Products.

The article is concerned with metal formability in piercing using the Mannesmann rolling process. The effect of some relevant manufacturing factors, casting and rolling, on steel formability characterized by the critical compressibility value delta //k//r is studied. The graphically presented relationships between delta //k//r and the individual factors characterizing the piercing process show how these factors affect metal formability.
