CONVERSATIONAL DATA-PROCESSING FOR INSTRUMENTAL ANALYSIS BY LABORATORY AUTOMATION SYSTEM.

This system is based on a hierachy system with the IBM S/370 and the S/7, and is capable of multiple data acquisition of both analog and digital outputs from analytical instruments. Six on-line systems have been operated for a variety of material analyses and research projects. With the solid-mass spectrometric analysis system, background correction and calculation of peak area intensity can be accomplished automatically, the precision was improved, and the necessary time for data processing was reduced to one-tenth that of the usual method. In direct-reading analytical emission spectrometry, final outputs were obtained after only one to two minutes per sample. Illustrations, diagrams, graphs, and tables include English captions.
