Coding method with very-low bit rate based on human face detection and tracing

Aiming at head-and-shoulder video sequences often showed in those fields such as visual telephone, video conference, etc, with human visual characteristic to the best advantage, a scalable video coding method based on human face detection and tracing is presented in this paper. The reconstructed image sequences with good subjective quality can be obtained with very low bit rate.
