Causes of shifting and skewing of a pallet fixture (PF) when clamped in a locating fixture (LF) are discussed. It is shown that at the clamping stage the pallet fixture is acted on by a system of forces randomly orientated in space and differing from the theoretical system. It is established that the most important factor affecting the final position of the PF is the result of the PF and LF contact faces.
