The authors present a description of a West Germany-developed polyester based on terephtalic acid and butyleneglycol which exhibits improved processing properties and retaining the good performance in heavy-duty environment. Results of an extensive test program are tabulated, plotted in curves and discussed in terms of practical recommendations. Processing conditions in injection molding and extrusion are detailed. Machining and bonding of Hostadur B molded parts are also briefly considered. Engineering applications of polybutyleneterephthalate are indicated, along with the existing potential not yet explored.
