When completed, the 4. 8 km Kootenay canal in B. C. will transport water diverted from the Kootenay River at the existing Corra Linn dam to a powerhouse under construction. Difficulties encountered in connection with the excavation of the silt from the forebay, penstock and powerhouse areas were overcome by using an electro-osmotic technique to stabilize the silt slopes.
