The paper examines the axisymmetric problem related to the displacement of a penny-shaped rigid inclusion embedded in bonded contact with a transversely isotropic elastic medium of infinite extent. The solution of this problem is achieved by employing the classical integral transform formulation which reduces the problem to a system of dual integral equations. Explicit results are derived for the load-displacement relationship for the penny-shaped rigid inclusion.
