The author first points out that shrinkage property data for a plastic as provided by its manufacturer cannot be regarded as basis for mold calculation in case of moldings with close tolerance. In the second part the author presents a calculation method for mold dimensions based on standard material testing data. An example of mold design with four cavities is included along with calculation data which are tabulated.
