An analysis of the cost efficiency of rotogravure and flexo presses was made by carrying out an eight color job on both machines. The cost structure was decided based on the machine hourly rates, job repro charges and image carrier costs. It was deduced that gravure printing required less time for plate mounting, allowed reuse of plates and was overall less costly than the flexo presses while giving nearly similar performance.
