摘要
In practice, standard reference flaws in calibration blocks serve as a base of comparison for real flaws. These calibration blocks are of various thicknesses and contain reflectors of known size and orientation. The distance between the reflectors is known. Engineers have run tests to conform to ASME Section V and to West German specification HP5/3. The HP standard is the more severe, if echo amplitude is the only consideration.
