Water-cooled grate bars were optimized and tested to be suitable for use in boilers on lines 1 to 4 at the Schwandorf incinerator. The temperature could be raised in the cooling system, as it allowed better heat utilization, when a small part of the heat was transferred from the preheated primary air. The anti-boiling margins could be increased without control devices and excessive cooling water volumes.
