Holographic technique is used to analyze diffraction phenomena. A coherent background of prescribed amplitude and phase is realized by holographic double-exposure-technique. Using this method, an interferometric measurement of a boundary diffraction wave is possible both in the light-region and in the shadow-region. The multiple-exposure-technique can also be used to construct interference fields, generated by several diffraction waves. Diffraction-fields behind more complicated structures can thus be synthesized.
