This article describes a study of 29 cast and sintered ferritic and austenitic-ferritic steel alloys, which was conducted at high temperatures in a sulfur vapor atmosphere. Types of phases formed, their position and the mechanisms involved are discussed. The best results were obtained with Fe-Cr-Al alloys having high Cr (17%) and Al(6%) contents, and with Fe-Cr-Al-Mn alloys.
