Tests are reported on the shrinkage and creep characteristics of structural lightweight concrete made with expanded slate (Solite) and very finely ground portland cement without and with natural fines. The shrinkage tests were carried out under various curing conditions, and the creep specimens were loaded at various ages at stress levels of 17. 3 N/mm**2 and 26. 0 N/mm**2 corresponding to stress-strength ratios of about one third and one half.
