摘要：
A methodology for obtaining quantitative measures of track quality based on rail-vehicle performance is described. Loaded-track geometry is treated as the driving impetus for vehicle dynamic response. It is interpreted in terms of system failure, which in turn is linked to basic maintenance requirements. In this treatment, the failure mode is restricted to high probability of derailment. The benefits associated with various types of track maintenance are analytically evaluated according to their respective costs.
