How to develop a new statistical process control (SPC) system in complicated modern manufacturing environment utilizing abundant information resources was discussed. To embed separate units in a sophisticated system, this paper proposed the principle, topology and overall solution of SPC system of hierarchy field bus-based quality control network at the level of plant and enterprise. The embedded SPC separate units were comprised of special modules designed for different simple functions. The structure of the field bus-based network, the interface of embedded industrial ethernet network, and the implementation of the control strategy of embedded SPC units were discussed, along with the principle of reliability and security. This system had characteristics of better environment flexibility, safety and credibility in practice, provides a basic plat roof for total quality control in manufacturing.
