This report contains the results of a literature study on short-circuit current limiters, covering the years 1973-1979. The method of investigation is described. The need for CLDs is explained: requirements for CLDs are collected and possible criteria for the distinction of the various principles are given. The various ways in which fuses can be used for current limitation and their pros and cons are illustrted.
