This paper presents results of the variation in optical energy gap, the width of the tails of localized states in the handgap, and the constant B (in the theoretical expression that relates the absorption coefficient to the energy of incident photons in the high absorption region) of CuGeO2 cermet thin films with composition, substrate temperature, and deposition rate of as-deposited and annealed films. An attempt is made to explain the results in terms of disorder and consequential band-tailing.
